8VC Build Video
I led the creation of a new video storytelling initiative for 8VC, a venture firm focused on building and backing technology companies. The project centered on BUILD, the firm’s in-house incubation program, which plays a core role in how new companies are conceived and launched, yet previously lacked a clear public narrative. The goal was to design a cinematic and brand-aligned storytelling framework that could communicate what BUILD is, how it operates, and why it matters to founders, partners, and the broader ecosystem.
Working across strategy, design, and production, I developed the creative direction, narrative structure, and visual language for the piece. This required translating a complex internal program into a concise and emotionally legible story while maintaining alignment with 8VC’s minimalist and precision-driven brand identity. Alongside this, I collaborated closely with partners, operators, designers, and founders to identify the moments and voices that best expressed the ethos of the program.
Over several months, I directed and captured extensive observational and interview footage across BUILD activities and company formation sessions. The raw material spanned dozens of hours and multiple events, which I shaped into a focused short film that distilled the essence of the program into a clear and compelling narrative. The process involved iterative story mapping, scene selection, pacing design, and tone calibration to balance warmth and authenticity with the firm’s polished visual language.
The result was 8VC’s first cohesive storytelling asset for BUILD, giving the program a defined narrative presence and a reusable communication tool for recruiting founders, partners, and collaborators. In parallel, I initiated a broader video storytelling practice at the firm, including a separate fellowship series, establishing a foundation for ongoing cinematic communication across 8VC’s platform.
